BuddyUp Summer Initiation
Program: Voices & Visions!
🧊✨ Ice Breakers & Mini-Games
We kicked off Day One with laughter and excitement as students met their Buddies through fun-filled ice breaker games! From name toss to mirror movements, the room quickly turned into a space full of new friendships and smiles. As they played, the kids naturally practiced English greetings like “What’s your name?”, “Nice to meet you!”, and “Let’s play!” — building both their confidence and connections from the very start.
🌋🔬 Super Science: Erupting Volcanoes!
The energy skyrocketed as students made their own erupting volcanoes! With just vinegar, baking soda, and some food coloring magic, each child became a little scientist. They explored science terms like “chemical reaction,” “eruption,” “carbon dioxide,” and “lava,” while also describing materials and actions in English — all through hands-on discovery and wonder.
💌❤️ Thank You Cards for Home
In a moment of calm and reflection, each student crafted a heartfelt thank-you card for their parents. Guided by mentors, they chose English words and phrases that captured their gratitude: “Thank you for helping me,” “I love you,” and “You make me happy.” These simple, genuine messages brought smiles to everyone who read them.
🖐️🖌️ BuddyUp Banner & Poetry Writing
Next, students got messy in the most meaningful way — dipping their hands in paint and stamping their colorful handprints onto the official BuddyUp banner. While waiting for their turn, each student wrote a short English poem about friendship, kindness, or what they loved most about camp. Some poems were funny, some were sweet, but every single one showed how far they had come in expressing themselves in English.
💵 Bonus Highlight: The BuddyUp Economy
Throughout both days, students participated in our mini BuddyUp economy, earning paper money for participation, kindness, and teamwork. They learned real-world terms like “spend,” “save,” “trade,” and “buy” as they used their earnings to redeem small prizes at the end of camp. It was more than just fun — it was a lesson in responsibility and value, all taught through language and action.
